privacy

coldpixel.co.uk is a personal photography archive. It runs on a small computer in Manchester and has no advertising, no analytics, and no interest in your data.

Here is what it does collect and why.

View counting

To keep access deliberate, the site counts how many images you have viewed this week. It does this using an irreversible hash of your IP address combined with the current week number. The hash cannot be reversed to identify you, and it changes each week — there is no record that connects one week to the next. Nothing is stored on this site. The counter runs at the Cloudflare network edge and resets every Monday at midnight.

Access tokens

If you receive a guest link, a short-lived cookie is set in your browser when you first use it. The cookie contains only a token string and an expiry date. It does not contain your name, email address, or any identifying information. It expires after the agreed period (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days) and is not used for any purpose other than letting you in.

If you make a donation via Ko-fi, Ko-fi shares your name and email address with this site to confirm the payment. That information is used only to generate a 7-day access token. Your name and email are not stored or retained in any form. The token itself expires after 7 days.

What this site does not do

It does not use tracking cookies. It does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party analytics. It does not sell or share data with anyone. It does not build profiles. It does not remember you between weeks.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what data this site holds about you and to request its deletion. Since the view counter uses an irreversible anonymous hash, there is nothing to link back to you. If you received a guest token and want it revoked before it expires, contact [email protected] and it will be done.
